I've posted a review of the game over on Steam which you can see HERE
I will be updating it at some point in the not too distant future once I've got several hours of game play under my belt as the review needs tidying up and adding some additional information.
I'm impressed by the fact you've obviously spent a lot of time on this labour of love and to be honest and also very surprised that it doesn't have more reviews; apart from mine, I only counted three others (all of which were short but positive). For a breakout with so many original features it deserves a much wider audience, especially as its dirt cheap as well. Apart from games on sale, it's among the cheapest games on Steam.
I'd love to see a re-release of this game but with much better graphics. If that was possible, I reckon this game would be worth a lot more money and would also be very popular; especially among those who, like me, love breakout/arkanoids. There has been a drought on breakouts for the past decade, with only rare releases every so often.
As I mention in my Steam review; apart from one game called Breakquest, which has beautiful graphics and 100 original looking levels (each level looks totally different from the previous one with respect to brick types) I've never come across any other game that has so many original features and such a large number of power-up's. I'm very very very impressed.
Please do consider the above idea. Giving the bricks a fresh and more modern look (including the power-ups etc) would be amazing.
Thank you for releasing this excellent game. :)
Good luck with any future game project you may be involved in.
Thank you sir. Your review are very much appreciated.
I think i have spent about one work year on MadCowBalls2 but it was and is always a learning process for me as i am a amateur. There have been times where i just spend one day or two back tracking and trying to understand why a feature isnt working as expected, some times to the point were i just scrap a feature and start all over.
Thank you. I might come back with a new game later on.
Well, it took two years to reply, but I'm pleased to say this game works perfectly now. It's a very unusual breakout; which is my main requisite for buying new breakouts these days because I have hundreds of this genre collected over the years since I first purchased one back in the early 90's.
I do intent writing a review of this game over on Steam at some point (again, when I get the time; at the moment I'm trying to arrange a visa to visit my family in Australia; I've just lost my uncle a few days ago and want to attend the funeral).
I'll also be recommending this whenever their is a game given away via the game giveawayoftheday project site, where I often post reviews of games. whenever a breakout is given away I tend to post recommendations for other breakouts to check out. This will be included from now on.
Thanks for the information. I'll try your suggestions then report back to you. I'm very busy at the moment, so it'll probably be later this week at the earliest. Regards Whiterabbit
Instead of searching for MadCowBalls2 "Start Safe mode(No game launcher)" you can use (marked in red). I didnt think of this workaround before and it will also be easier if someone else faces the same issue. Stats that make you complete Cow Progress and Steam Achievements will still be saved.
Green: Game lanucher.
Blue: Stand alone installer (Cure OS issues, play the game without Steam).
Okay, it's working now. your last update must have done the trick. Would love to see the original free version included with this one on Steam, maybe add as a free dlc. ;)
I purchased this via Steam when it was released as I love breakouts; but I cannot get the game to work.
All I get is the installer window (see attached image) with the two Start buttons for Arcade and normal play plus the other buttonssuch as Options, Exit etc, but none of the buttons work. I've tried every key on my keyboard and my mouse to no avail.
To the developer Martin, please help. You can email me on Whiterabbit-uk@hotmail.co.uk
Regards Stephen Brown aka Whiterabbit-uk
p.s. I've validated all the files and they work. My system runs Win 10 Pro
Sorry for the inconvenience. There was a bug that i fixed in patch 2.3, unresponsive launcher. Its also possible to launch the game without the launcher (Search for MadCowBalls2.exe). It had something to do with the window being out of focus the first 2 seconds. If you have the patch you will be able to resize the window and the launcher should scale up or down, just as the playable game.
Thank you and i hope this solves the issue. I will send an email aswell.

Im sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope you got the visa.
Thank you, Im sure your knowledge will help others in the same need of breakout-like games.
